Snowfall in Shimla

Shimla is facing  heavy snowfall these days. This heavy snowfall has brought some relief to the Shimla tourism. Delayed snowfall has hit tourism a lot. There has been heavy snow fall in Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Rohru, Manali, Rohtang Pass, Jalori Pass, Dharamshala & Mcleod Ganj. Life has been thrown out of gear because of  power cut and vehicular traffic being disrupted .

Chintpurni a famous pilgrimage in Una district of  Himachal Pradesh has experienced snow fall after decades. Kangra witnessed snowfall after 67 years. Nurpur has got snowfall after 47 years.

Traffic within Shimla has also been affected as only a few HRTC and private buses plying since morning. Power supply in many localities in the town has also been affected due to snow and intermittent rain and sleet since last night. Temperature has dropped to   – 0.7 °C.

Palampur town was first to witness the snowfall of the season. The entire Palampur region is in the grip of severe cold wave. Most of Hill areas in Himachal Pradesh has been draped in white because of this heavy snowfall in 2 days

Tourists were not expecting but they are enjoying the snowfall in Shimla.  Tourists, who visited Shimla on Friday 6th Janaury 2012 were delighted to find white flakes covering the Kufri during the morning hours & in the afternoon, Shimla was also lashed by snow.
