Kalka is a small town in Panchkula District of Haryana State, India. The town got its name on the name of Famous Goddess Kali (Goddess of Hindus.) Kalka is situated along slope. Here on kalka Railway Station the broad gauge track finish & narrow gauge track starts. The narrow gauge track which goes from Kalka to Shimla is 2ft 6 inch. This track is famous for its breathtaking views of Hills & valleys. The track from Kalka to Shimla is 97 Kilometers.

Kalka bus stand is just 500 meters from Kalka Railway station & Auto Rickshaw is easily available for to & from Bus stand.. All the buses going to Shimla starts from Chandigarh. From Chandigarh 24 hrs. bus service is available for Kalka & Shimla. Most kind of Bus services is available like general, Deluxe & Volvo. As the buses start from Chandigarh most of them are full so it is not advisable to board bus from Kalka Bus Stand. There are very few chances of getting proper seats in buses from Kalka bus stand. The bus fare may variate from INR 100 to 300 depending on the bus. The bus usually takes 2.5 to 3hrs from Kalka to Shimla. The distance is only 90 Kilometers but because of Hilly area it takes approx. 3 Hours.

Kali Mata Temple
It is an ancient temple of the Hindu Goddess Kali which is situated on the National Highway 22 that runs through Kalka town. The temple is very popular with hundreds of devotees pay their respects annually during the Navratri. It is believed that this temple was build in the age of Mahabhrata by Pandvas, during “Agyat Vas” when they stayed here for some time.
Shri Balaji Temple
In 1988 an ancient temple of Balaji (childhood incarnition of Hindu god Hanuman) was excavated on one of the hills overlooking the town. This temple has also become popular destination among devotees, including localites.
The Yadavindra Gardens at Pinjore, believed to be built by Mughals, is another popular destination among people visiting the area.
