Weather conditions at Mt Kailash: During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra you can find temperature below freezing point at nights. Days are although bit hotter and sunny during the tour time.
Health conditions: All the tour operators needed a valid health certificate of yours certified by a Doctor. This is because you are going to travel at a height of 5700 metres and hence you should be fit enough. You must also take a personal first aid kit along with yourself.
Fitness Mantra: You must start doing regular exercise at least 30 days in advance to be fit. Remember, you are going at a high attitude area. Also don’t smoke or intake alcohol at these areas and follow your guide’s instructions. Also start walking and practise some climbing. Clothes Required: Climate here is in extreme conditions; so bring along thick woollen clothes with you. Although you can get some clothes on rent there but it is advisable to bring your own; that can make you more comfortable. Also you’ll require some important accessories like Torch with enough batteries, unbreakable water bottles, Rain Gear, Binoculars, Moisturizer, Pocket knife etc. These are pretty handy things on the tour. Currency Exchange: Zhangmu Bank accepts all major currencies and Travellers Cheques in exchange for Yuen (Chinese Currency). 1 Yuen = 8/- INR approx. Generally credit cards may not be accepted there.
General Information for Visa: For Visas and Documentations you must have a six months old passport. Your tour operator would get you guaranteed Tibet visa in Nepal, if you have an Indian Passport. You must also take a Travel Insurance for this tour. Only still cameras and home video cameras are allowed on this trip. Darchan is the last place on the trip to make an ISD call. In case of any emergency call beyond this point, you must contact local tour operator. All these arrangements are done by China Tibet Tourism Bureau (CTTB) which is a government Organization.
