Green Tax for Entry in Shimla

From 1st April, 2012 entering Shimla will cost you more. If you are traveling by your car you will have to pay an entry tax called Green Tax of Rs. 200. These rates are different for Buses and two Wheelers. The Entry fee for bus and trucks is Rs. 500/- and doors of Shimla for a 2 Wheeler will open for Rs. 100/- . If your vehicle is registered in Himachal Pradesh then no entry fee will be levied.

 

This new Entry tax is expected to generate an additional revenue of Rs.6 crore annually. All entry points of Shimla will follow this rule. Green Tax for Entry in Shimla

 

An officer told that the corporation is imitating the same tax as Manali corporation is levying on entry in Manali. This Tax was approved in the budget session on 27th Feb 2012, Monday.
